Illawarra Coal communications and consultation manager Rosanne Moore would not specify the nature of the accident, but told International Longwall News today the man was taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precautionary measure only and discharged shortly after, with no injury.

According to an ABC online report today, the 21-year-old man suffered facial burns when an oxygen bottle caught fire at the work site.

The Douglas longwall is being developed by Illawarra Coal as a replacement for the diminishing reserves of the Appin colliery.
